Waiting as an act

There is a way of working

inseparable from living.

The same forces are embodied:

tempo, energy, motivation, attention.

What happens in the studio

happens elsewhere as well.

And the other way around.

Waiting is a way of creating distance.

Looking again.

Sleeping on it.

An interruption of the work,

a pause,

Waiting as a practice.

Not intervening, no new experiments

or research

not solving,

not forcing

in any direction yet.

The body keeps looking.

The work keeps relating.

Sometimes the light falls just right.

You know it

before you can say it.

Being absolutely certain of a step

that will no longer be visible later.

The same ... when composing a mathematical model, a lot of waiting for things, what things, nobody knows.
