Every Part Counts — Soft Sculpture and Democracy

Soft wool sculpture with interwoven fibers forming a fragile, self-supporting structure that explores connection and balance.
Sculpture of smyrna wool elements

I was working with wool today.

Small elements holding each other.

Too much pressure — they fall apart.

Too little — they never become a form.

I’ve never worked like this before.

It felt like good medical practice, or raising a child.

don’t force the outcome.

but support what is already almost good.

I’ve never worked like this before.

A Soft Sculpture. And the structure is not solid.

It is held together by relationships.

Relationships between every part.

And every part counts.

Today was a day about democracy.

Municipal elections.

A good day.

With this in mind:

Freedom can hold

with just enough connections.
